I’ve been to Marrakech 7 times since 2011, it’s one of my favourite holiday destinations and so it’s about time I jotted down my recommendations and tips for you. This post will cover everything from: tips on batering in the souks, activities to do, my favourite riads to stay in and some things to be wary of on your trip! I hope you find it helpful if you’re planning a trip soon.

Transport:

Marrakech is really easy to get to from London! We usually fly from Stansted airport and it takes just under 4 hours. The time zone doesn’t change as it’s on the equator, so you also get maximum holiday time and no jet lag.

The airport is only a 15/20 minute drive from the old town, so from landing and with only hand baggage, you can get to your Riad super quickly!

I recommend asking your accomodation to book your airport transfer and to get euros out to pay your cabbie at the airport. After leaving the departure baggage claim, there are lots of ATMs in working order and I recommend getting dirams out for shopping in the souks.

Accommodation:

Palais Blanc Riad

My favourite place to stay is Palais Blanc Riad - it’s a fantastic location right next to the souks and has a proper swimming pool, great staff, a lovely breakfast and gorgeous rooms. I’ve stayed here three times now and would definitely go back again!

They put on a fantastic breakfast buffet (make sure you try Msemmem with jam and honey, my all time fav holiday breakfast) and at around 4ish they bring around mint tea and cake for guests at the pool which is such a treat. We booked the Deluxe Suite and had our own private outside which was perfect to read our books from after a morning of shopping in the souks.

Riad Alili

I also love Riad Alili - so tranquil, a great location (although a little harder to find through some narrow alleyways from the souks so you need a good memory or internet connection to find your way back). They have a small pool and jacuzzi, resident turtles who you can feed lettuce to, and a couple of rooftops across muliple levels so it feels like you have the place to yourself.
