What's on in London, April 2025

London is blossoming along with the trees and there’s SO MUCH going on across the capital this month! I’ve collected my favourites and put them together for you below - here are my favourite events coming up, everything from thrift shopping, immersive experiences, as well as gaming and music festivals!

Darkfield in Shoreditch, 1-12th April, Shoreditch Town Hall, £14, link

If you want to get into immersive experiences but don’t know where to start, I’d HIGHLY recommend Darkfield and their events (link)! They are well known for crafting unsettling, immersive experiences that unfold in complete darkness, using 3D soundscapes to trick your senses. I’ve done about 5 Darkfield events already, including Arcade when it was part of last year’s London Film Festival, and they’re usually set in claustrophobic shipping containers, but this time, they’re expanding and it sounds super fun.

Set beneath Shoreditch Town Hall, in a labyrinth of abandoned cellars and tunnels, their latest show, Arcade, blends video gaming with immersive theatre. It’s not just a show—you’re part of it. You’ll sit at your own retro-style arcade machine, slip on headphones, and suddenly find yourself inside a neon-lit, ’80s-inspired world. Voices will whisper in your ear, the world will shift around you, and as you navigate the game, your choices will shape the story. With 30 different possible endings, no two experiences will be the same.

This is the kind of event best entered with as little prior knowledge as possible, so let’s leave it at this: if you love eerie, reality-bending storytelling, you won’t want to miss this.

Rooftop Film Club, Peckham & Stratford, From 10th April onwards, £17-£25, link

The weather is finally warm enough for the best London cinema to re-open - There’s nothing quite like watching a film outdoors, wrapped up in a blanket, with the city skyline twinkling around you. Rooftop Film Club is back, taking over the Bussey Rooftop Bar in Peckham and Roof East in Stratford.

Expect cult classics, brand-new releases, singalongs, and themed nights, plus deckchairs, bottomless popcorn as well as street food and cocktails. New this year: the Fireside Loveseat—a snuggly two-person seat with a personal wood heater and hot drink.

Films range from nostalgic favourites like 10 Things I Hate About You and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to hot new releases like Wicked and Nosferatu. There’s even a 2 hour long Friends watch party for superfans.

Big Penny Social Events, Walthamstow, Across the month, link

Big Penny Social they have a plethora of events on as always, so you’ll probably find me there throughout the month! My personal standouts are: April 6th there’s a Maker’s Market, they’re hosting a Good Friday Party and an Easter Family disco on Easter Weekend, Live Comedy with Maisie Adams and also a Worth the Weight Vintage Market on the 27th April (think the famous Paris kilo stores but here in East London where you pay by the weight for second hand clothes).
