What's On in London: January!
Mystery music evenings, talks in a crypt and Michelin smash burgers... here are my top picks for everything going on in London this January.
Happy new year you lovely lot! I’m back and kicking off this year with my personal top picks of what I think are the best pop ups, exhibitions and things to do across London this month! There’s a little of everything in this post from pop up saunas, mystery music nights and chats in a crypt (my kinda jam) so I hope you find something fun to brighten this dreary month!
PS - I’ll be coming at you soon with some ideas for Valntines’s day in London too as I know some of you have requested this! Stay tuned :)
Burns Night at Barge East, Hackney Wick, 24th + 25th January, from £60, link
The floating restaurant on the 122 year old Barge in Hackney Wick is one of my favourite ways to spend Burns Night. Barge East are putting on their usual four-course Scottish Supper (think Cullen Skink, Haggis Pops and Tatties!) alongside drams of whisky. There will be poetry, live music and a social dining aspect so you might make some friends too! Be sure to book quick because it’s a popular one (P.S make sure you book a table ON the actual barge rather than their garden for this)!

In The Dark Music Gigs, 15th Jan - 28th March Across London, link
I LOVE the concept of this mystery music gig series popping up across London this quarter. In The Dark is a music series that has you blindfolded (well, in a comfy sleep mask) while world-class musicians play everything from classical to nu-folk just feet away from you. Returning in January 2025, these one-hour gigs take place in stunning venues like St Bartholomew the Great, Trinity Buoy Wharf, and even the Cutty Sark. The music is a mystery when you book (and you’ll only learn what you’ve heard upon exit), but an experience like this is guaranteed to be super memorable!
No Trousers on the Tube Day, 12th Jan, link
I mean, I doubt any of you will join in one this (who wants to get partially naked in THIS weather) but if you’re out and about in London on Sunday, then it’s good to know that London’s annual no-trousers tube ride is going ahead (I’m telling you this so you can either avoid or sneak a peak). The meet will happen around 3pm in China Town and then attendee’s will be divided up into groups for each train ride where they will take their trousers off. I don’t know why this happens but hey ho! If you’re into your street photography it might be a great opportunity to practise!
